Quiz interactif multi-joueurs L'Europe en Auvergne

The quiz "L'Europe en Auvergne" is a serious game about Europe's role in the local development of the Auvergne region. Through 10 questions, each made of a short introduction, a choice of 4 answers, and then an explanation, the players experience gradually various content, starting with general questions and slowly going through more complex content. With a set of buzzers, up to 4 players can compete at the same time and emulate each other.

Concept

What is Europe doing in my region? How can I identify its actions, and more importantly what does it do that has an impact on my everyday life? For a complex, and sometimes misunderstood, institution like Europe, communication requires different means and methods that can create more bonding with the audience. A simple concept as a quiz allows to approach such complex content because it adds up the fun dimension required to make the player feel confident - as well as attracted, to the content. On a special event like a national fair, it is an obvious way to create animation on the stand, in particular because the questions raised in the quiz create a nice mediation bridge for further discussion between the audience and the crew.

The design of content that Ysalide provided on this project was particularly challenging because, although european institutions spend millions to develop european regions, their communication is almost inexistent. The first step was then to dig in a particularly unappealing raw content made of official program brochures, funds legislation and rules documents. The challenge was to extract significant information that could potentially be turned into interesting and fun content. After intense research, we decided we would go through a crescendo approach that would make the visitors slowly dive in the complexity of the information using personal knowledge, deduction, logic... In the end, the visitors should understand how things work by going actively through the processes, rather than just see information in a passive way. .

Example of a question in 3 steps : presentation of european funds, important tool of the european action :

4 buzzers are directly connected to the computer, offering a friendly interface very easy to handle (for the visitors) and to install (for the crew). The players can select an answer by buzzing on the corresponding button, which reflects in the game by animated pictograms. The datas are collected through the Internet on a web server, allowing us to follow day by day how visitors use the game.
